Whether you’re a procrastinator by nature, someone who simply feels anxious about dental visits, or otherwise, you might discover that you avoid care when you have an oral health problem. You might do this even though you are fully aware that you need our help. We understand the desire to pretend you don’t need treatment or to attempt to rationalize a problem until you convince yourself you’re fine. However, that doesn’t change the fact that sometimes, immediate care is just what you need. If you notice a change (or we’ve suggested a particular treatment), we suggest you act quickly every time. Of course, we are happy to tell you why.
Come In Immediately
You should come in immediately if something is wrong, feels “weird,” hurts, or otherwise. If you have ever heard the phrase, “It’s better to be safe than sorry,” this certainly applies in this instance. You see, avoiding necessary dental care can lead to very severe results. Most patients end up wishing they had acted with urgency to address oral health problems before they had time to progress and require more costly and often complex care. (Note: Just remember that the sooner we see you, the sooner your mouth is all better).
Schedule Necessary Treatment Right Away
You might think to yourself that a restoration can wait. You may also think that if it’s a preventive treatment we suggest, you simply must be in the early stage of your oral health problem, so why rush? Unfortunately, even minor issues can snowball with surprising speed. As a result, we always suggest our patients remember that the luxury of additional time does not apply to problems with teeth, gums, and other oral tissues. Fortunately, though, the luxury of dental care is within reach!
